Green and White Wedding Flowers
Seasonal Ideas for Green and White Weddings
I love the simplicity of green and white weddings. It seems so fresh, pure and romantic. Green and white weddings can be featured any time of the year. There are many types of flowers available to use and the combinations are endless. The mood that green and white evokes can be classic, romantic, or whimsical. Brides always look great against green and white as a backdrop, it really compliments white dresses.
Featured Wedding at the Brooklyn Winery
This Brooklyn Winery, Green and White flower wedding was no exception. I love when I get the chance to collaborate with other vendors. The Mother of the bride wanted to incorporate origami cranes and found a local origami guru in Park Slope, Brooklyn to do the installation.
We created an arch using birch, swirling driftwood and lots and lots of branches. I was really happy that flowering privet and laurel were in season. They really create great foliage and have accents of little white flowers.
Local peonies were also at their prime and the open blooms must have been at least 6” in diameter. They were stunning. We paired them with delicate sopanica which is really a pleasure to work with, I love the bell shaped flowers and the freshness of the stems and greenery.
Tall centerpieces can be made in many configurations. This centerpiece was created so that guests can easily look under the centerpiece and it really made a great focal point for the room. We accented the tables with smaller lower centerpieces and it really tied everything together.
Here is our arch again, repurposed for the cake table. This family has a unique tradition of having a viking sword to cut the cake. I love this, it was engraved and I would happily display it in my home. So much more exciting to use a massive sword to cut a massive cake.
Some of my favorite flowers to use for green and white weddings are sopanica with it’s delicate, bell shaped blooms, anything that is a flowering branch, pear, apple, dogwood. They are just beautiful.
Green and White Wedding Flower Ideas for Every Season
Every season has its own mood and every season is great for green and white combinations. By using seasonal flowers and modifying the tone, green and white looks great year round.
In Winter it looks great to use amaryllis and ranunculus with magnolia leaves and some silvery brunia. The magnolia has a deep green paired with velvety brown and brunia has just the right shading with silver and sepia to really bring out the tones.
Spring is a great time to take advantage of the flowering blossoms and to incorporate lilac and other seasonal blooms. Of course in late spring, we have our star, the peony.
Summer brings us a lot of locally grown variety, lace flowers, dahlias, and of course roses. Brighter greens work very well and a pop of color looks great.
Fall is a great time to warm up green and white with a little mauve and cream. You still maintain the simplicity of the pallet, but deepen the tones to fit into the sultry mood of the season. Helleborus and antique hydrangea make a great combination.
