I love the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, it is so beautiful and I often visit for inspiration.

Flower Girl
Last July we made flowers for Pete and Irene who were getting married at the Green Building in Brooklyn . The Green Building is a fantastic space that has terrific architecture. I would love to have the opportunity to do more weddings there.

Wildflowers
Pete and Irene wanted something a little different. They are both from the city, but they wanted to have a country
feeling to their wedding. Since this was in the middle of July, I had access to all sorts of grasses and other cool materials to work with. We used twigs in burlap bags as centerpieces and tied bundles of dried flowers with ivy to them.
Instead of carrying flowers, the bride’s maids wore necklaces made of herbs and roses. I think they were cute.
The bride carried a bouquet of mostly grasses with some roses. The bouquet
was trimmed with twine, keeping the stems exposed.
The groomsmen wore boutonnieres made of straw flowers with hot peppers.
After the ceremony, they went to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden to take some pictures, beautiful.
Especially on theses cold winter days, it is nice to see a fun, summer wedding.

We are getting a lot of cool things for fall. I was pleasantly surprised to see an Etsy Feature on beautiful French Items. It was nicely done and a welcomed romantic break.

Macroons seem to be all the rage, we at Rose Red & Lavender love to eat them and that is our special treat. I always rush to Laduree whenever I am in Paris (which hasn’t been often enough lately).
When the weather cools, we will be bringing in a line of chocolates from a small store in St. Germaine that I adore, I believe we will be the first in New York to carry them (shhhh, the brands a secret until it hits our shop). They specialize in chocolates from all over the world and were the first to incorporate hot peppers and spices. I discovered them a few years ago and I am happy see that they are now going to be selling in the US. I don’t like to sell fine chocolate in the summer because it gets too hot when shipped and you can’t control the quality.
In the meantime, though, while it is still hot, here is some jewelry that we have in at the shop. Everything is adorable and it is very difficult to resist taking it home. It is beautifully french inspired and won’t add to your waistline.
Mon Dieu.
