The Gramercy Park Hotel is an awesome place.
Elsa and Abtin were a very special couple. When I met Elsa, she mentioned that her husband was Persian and I suggested that she ask him if he wanted a Sofreh at the wedding. She had never heard of the custom but asked him anyway and he was touched by the gesture and his aunt happily did the honor of creating the beautiful table.
Sofrehs are an ancient tradition, that pre-dates Islam. It is a table set with symbolic fruits, nuts, honey and spices. The bride and groom sit at the table and look into a mirror to see what their lives will be like.
This wedding was at the height of peony season and we were blessed with billowing blooms. We created tablescapes with moss runners, silver and gold succulents and tons of beautiful peonies.
Abtin was an amazing groom. Elsa was busy in school and really didn’t have a lot of time to plan the details. Abtin stepped in and took over the planning, he was involved in every aspect and was so sensitive and caring. Both of them were such wonderful and caring people, it was an honor to be a part of their wonderful day.
For the bridal bouquet we created a gardeny arrangement using peonies, ranunculus and rice flower with wisps of jasmine flowing with amaranths.
The tables at The Gramercy Park hotel are long and thin so we created three different types of centerpieces in a runner style. My favorite was a runner of moss with gold succulents and groupings of peonies on the table. Spring weddings are so beautiful.
We were lucky enough to have this beautiful wedding featured on Style Me Pretty.
